The great catecheses. Book II
An exceptional theologian and confessor of Orthodoxy in the dark age of the iconoclastic dispute, St. Theodore the Studite remained known in history, at the same time, as one of the main reformers of Chinovial monasticism. According to his impact, St. Theodore is today joined by other great figures of Orthodox monasticism, who, in other different eras, had comparable projects, such as Saints Pachomius (4th century), Athanasius the Athonite (10th century), Paisius Velicikovski (XVIII century). But we could not have a clear vision of the extent and depth of this phenomenon, without access to his ascetic work, fully reflected in the catecheses that the great abbot said to his community several times a week, preserved today in four collections.
This volume, which will be followed by the Small Catecheses, is the first complete Romanian translation of the Great Catecheses, based on the Greek text edited and published by A. Papadopoulos-Kerameus in St. Petersburg, in 1904....
