This book contains the original translation (the first in a modern language) of the Hesychastic Homilies of St. Callistus I, Patriarch of Constantinople (14th century), against Nichifor Gregoras. The translation was made from the ancient Greek language by Laura Enache, the editor of the edition being Father Dragos Bahrim.

Reluctant hesychast and signatory of the famous Aghioritic Tomos, About those who calm down with piety, composed by St. Gregory Palamas, St. Callistus I himself belongs to the ranks of patriarchs who, beyond the exemplary fulfillment of their pastoral duties, have left us a rich heritage. ; certainly, what has been preserved to this day does not represent the totality of the spiritual creation of the prolific patriarch. Among other things, Patriarch Callistus I composed the life of his spiritual teacher, St. Gregory of Sinai, as well as the life of St. Theodosius of Tarnovo. In addition, sixty-four homilies are attributed to him.
