The present translation is dated to the end of the century. 18th century, belonging to a monk from the Hesychastic "school" of the Hassian translators, namely the Hieromonk Ilarion Dascălul from the Dragomirna monastery, "the most skilful translator from Greek into Moldovan"

There are significant differences between this translation and the translation of Father Dumitru Stăniloae from Filocalia , differences that are undoubtedly due to the editions used by Father Stăniloae, which are newer and more deficient than the manuscript used by Ilarion Dascălul. Significant semantic differences between the Jerusalem edition, via Filocalia 12, and the Paisian manuscript were marked in the text, correlating with the English edition, which used better, flawless manuscripts.

Another distinctive aspect, this time regarding the way of translating, is that Father Stăniloae prefers the paraphrase, in order to make the text probably more accessible to today's readers, while the paisian translator is more faithful to the text from manuscript, trying to keep as well as possible the original form and to reproduce as accurately as possible the thinking of the holy author.
