This paper, composed by Father Professor Dr. Stefan Oprea, is valuable through the synthesis of theological-missionary, ecumenical pastoral and cultural in the spirit of the Romanian Christian ethos, which presents the writing and thinking of the two Patriarchs of our Church. The work is both interesting for theological research, as well as for evaluating the coordinates of the mission of our Church at the turn of the two millennia. The complex topic and quite difficult to deepen, given its wide scope, required an interdisciplinary approach: theological, spiritual, social and no less political. The author manages to weave - in his approach - the data provided by the testimonies of the time, be they theological or ecclesiastical, or historical, political and social, completing them with pertinent explanations regarding some aspects of the history of our Church, using the testimonies of the leaders of the Romanian Orthodoxy: Patriarchs Justinian and Justin, on the one hand, but also those offered by the blessed sleeping Patriarch Teoctist. The critical analysis and the pertinent underlinings highlight the efforts made during that difficult period, but also after the fall of the communist regime, when our Church was confronted with new and unexpected challenges.
