Blessed is God, the One who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (cf. 1 Tim. 2: 4), the One who with love for people has also searched our sick people in many ways and given them the best doctor of the passions of soul and body, the most holy Simeon, the one called from the Wonderful Mountain and who carried his ascetic struggle on a pillar whose life and miracles, being in number more than the sand of the sea, who will be able to to tell a story or to bring them to mind? For time, which covers much, has made them be forgotten, for no one has labored so hard, nor received so much diligence, as to transmit in writing all his angelic feast on earth. So, taking all that we could keep from those who preceded us and being worthy to see some of them with our own eyes, we thought it necessary to write them now and proclaim you, lovers of God, to the glory of Jesus.
