Melchisedec Stefanescu's work represents both a history of the relations between Orthodoxy and the Reformers, and of the penetration of Protestant denominations in Transylvania - the author using numerous testimonies of the chroniclers of the time. At the same time, in its pages we find an exposition of the relations between the Jesuits, reformers and the Ecumenical Patriarchate, of the way in which they had repercussions on the Romanian Orthodoxy. The persecution suffered by the Holy Hierarch Ilie Iorest and original arguments about the right-faith of the martyr Patriarch Chiril Lucaris are other topics of interest addressed in the pages of this book.
