About those who repent

“Remember, my brethren, that there is no confession of sins in the grave, nor the atonement of sins can be given after the time of repentance has passed. Hurry up as long as you are alive, as long as you are "on the way with your forefathers" [1]! Behold, we fear the fire of this world, and we fear the iron tongues with which men are tormented; but compare them with the eternal hands of the tormentors and with the sharp flames that never die.
Brethren, I speak to you: through the faith of the Church, through my own care, through the souls of all those in the congregation, I implore you and I beg you not to be ashamed of this work of repentance, not to be lazy to wrap up, how quickly it is in your power, the preached cures for salvation: to humble your souls by mourning, to clothe your body with sackcloth, to anoint it with ashes, to fast through fasting, to kneel in pain...
