Man's encounter with God takes place in a space that represents the soul of a community or a people, its face and the place where it lives. To the Romanians, the body of the church grows from a nature understood as a gift of God, with whose substance and beauty it enters into harmony. No crumb of the proud and high-performance growth in volume, able to take your breath away and crush the eyes of those who approach the house of the Lord, is found in Romanian foundations, even when we are dealing with a legendary attempt to overcome everything. it could mean a "towering building."

It is significant that our medieval churches did not accept the preeminence of the Constantinopolitan model of the Greek cross nor the Hellenistic heritage of the basilica. The devotional act of the first Bessarabians did not create, as one might think, a model. The spatial uniqueness of the Royal Church, in which the grave simplicity of the architectural forms shelters the pictorial “space”, devoid of the mannerism and the calophilous excesses of late Byzantium, is rather a milestone. The Romanians continued to build for the most part their foundations on the elongated plane of the simple nave and on the one that was both supple and extended by chaining the three apses to the east. This elongated axis, opening its arms to the place of the Eucharistic sacrament, intersects at the appropriate point with the arrow of the vaults or towers through which the light coming from heaven is sifted. Our vaults and towers do not open magnificent and almost incomprehensible with the eye as in the cosmogonic arch of the Constantinople churches.
