History

The Publishing House of the Metropolitanate of Moldavia and Bukovina, carrying on the activity of the great hierarchs and scholars of Moldavia, Varlaam, Dosoftei and Veniamin, is trying to address the contemporary needs the same way the high ecclesiastical figures mentioned above sought to do it during their times. In 1992 the publishing house received the name TRINITAS, supporting the cultural and the missionary activity of the Metropolitanate of Moldavia and Bukovina by editing high quality publications that promoted the beliefs and the morals of Christianity.

Some of our achievements

The Publishing House of the Metropolitanate of Moldavia and Bukovina, carrying on the activity of the great hierarchs and scholars of Moldavia, Varlaam, Dosoftei and Veniamin, is trying to address the contemporary needs the same way the high ecclesiastical figures mentioned above sought to do it during their times. In 1992 the publishing house received the name TRINITAS, supporting the cultural and the missionary activity of the Metropolitanate of Moldavia and Bukovina by editing high quality publications that promoted the beliefs and the morals of Christianity.

After His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Moldavia and Bukovina was elected as the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the name TRINITAS was requested by the Romanian Patriarchy. TRINITAS Publishing House became DOXOLOGIA Publishing House, continuing its activity on the same premises, with the same editorial staff and keeping the legal right of republishing all the titles published under the TRINITAS logo. Without getting involved into today’s competition of the editorial market, DOXOLOGIA Publishing House stands out as a distinct voice in the Romanian editorial environment through its loyalty towards the evangelical message that is passed through the uninterrupted continuity of the Holy Tradition.

A particular attention is given to the writings of the Holy Fathers, the Orthodox Christian teaching books, the ones infused with piety and helping the spiritual growth, the academic works and the spiritual literature for children and youth. However, the monographs, the art albums and the presentation flyers are not neglected either. On this matter, among the walls of one of the most beautiful monasteries of Iasi – Golia Monastery – numerous books, scientific anthologies, collective academic volumes, albums and brochures get printed, contributing to the fulfillment of the same ideal – the cultural serving of the Church of Christ.

During the time when it operated under the TRINITAS name, between 1992 and 2009, over 250 volumes have been published. After the publishing house of the Metropolitanate of Moldavia and Bukovina received the name DOXOLOGIA, the number of the published titles increased progressively, reaching more than 450 titles under the new logo and over 100 new titles in each of the past three years.

DOXOLOGIA Publishing House is proving a consistent and intensive cultural path through its every year participation at each of the major book fairs, both national and international: Gaudeamus International Book Fair – Bucharest; Bookfest – Bucharest; Bookfest – Iasi; LIBREX – Iasi; Cartfest – Iasi; Editorial Crop Fair – Iasi; Bookfest – Timisoara; Gaudeamus – Oradea; Libris – Brasov; National Book and Religious Magazine Fair – Sibiu; Gaudeamus – Cluj Napoca; Libris – Piatra Neamţ; International Book Fair for Children and Youth – Chisinau.

The Candle of Moldavia and Theology and Life are the two periodicals of DOXOLOGIA Publishing House. The first one is the official bulletin of the Archdiocese of Iasi and the second one is a trimestral magazine “of reflection and spirituality” – as inscribed on its header.

The permanent collaborators of our periodicals are professors at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Dumitru Stăniloae” in Iasi or other faculties of theology in the country, prominent figures of European culture and theology, foreign professors and graduate students. Being open to the problems of our contemporary society, to a constructive dialogue with the inwardness of the persons and with the cultural and social life spheres, is reflected by the mere presentation of our titles.

The Theology and Life magazine which was first published by the TRINITAS Publishing House, now DOXOLOGIA Publishing House, is a magazine of reflection and Christian spirituality, continuer of the Metropolitanate of Moldavia and Bukovina magazine that came out in 1924, and it contains within its pages academic theological studies, articles, translations, reviews that are necessary in the theological environment.
